Stewardship begins by recognizing that we belong to God. First Corinthians 6:19–20 teaches us that the Holy Spirit lives within us and that being bought with a price changes how we handle our bodies, choices, and priorities. We are responsible for managing ourselves before we can faithfully manage anything else God entrusts to us. Following Christ means yielding our agenda to God and honoring Him in the ordinary decisions of daily life.

Managing Me: Having the Mind of Christ

Biblical stewardship begins with managing ourselves, and lasting change begins in the mind. Philippians 2:1–8 calls us to adopt the attitude of Christ so our thoughts, intentions, and actions reflect God’s ownership of our lives. We are challenged to reject entitlement and practice necessary emptiness by releasing pride, privilege, and the need for recognition. A new life in Christ requires the ongoing renewal of an old mind.

Genesis 18:14 confronts our unbelief with a decisive question: is anything too hard for the Lord? We can trust God’s promise even when pressure, delay, or present circumstances tempt us to dismiss what He has said. We are called to remain positioned, give God time, and praise while we wait. God can also use the people around us as part of the answer, reminding us that faith and community often work together.

Philippians 2:5 shows us that managing our lives begins with managing our minds. Because God owns everything, including us, our thoughts and attitudes must be aligned with the mind of Christ. We are challenged to release entitlement, empty ourselves of pride, and choose obedience even when it costs comfort or recognition. Renewed thinking gives us greater capacity to serve God and one another with humility.

First Corinthians 6:19–20 reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that we were bought with a price. God is the Owner, we are managers, and every part of life belongs under His direction. We are called to let the Holy Spirit guide our choices and to glorify God in body and spirit. Stewardship begins within us before it reaches our money, opportunities, relationships, or responsibilities.
