Sermon Summary

Continuing the Bold Moves conversation, the message follows Daniel from his early resolve in Babylon to the lions’ den decades later. His captivity did not define him; his consistent faithfulness gave him wisdom, favor, and influence.

Do not become your environment

Daniel remained distinct in Babylon. The church is challenged to resist becoming the diagnosis, condition, addiction, or pressure that surrounds them.

Make prayer your regular response

Daniel’s opponents could predict that he would pray. Rather than turning to unhealthy relief in adversity, believers are called to cultivate a consistent conversation with God before pressure arrives.

Be a force on the outside

While Daniel prayed inside the lions’ den, King Darius fasted outside it. The message calls the church to intercede sacrificially for people in difficult situations, trusting that faithful action on both sides can serve God’s purpose.

Sermon Quote

Sermon Quote

Be bold enough to make the moves necessary to secure your progression while you are still in captivity.

Daniel shows that a difficult season does not require compromise. God can use a place of captivity to form integrity, deepen discipline, and grow wisdom and favor.

The weight of a second chance

Bishop Terry L. Hill, Jr. · Aug 30, 2026

From Exodus 34, the speaker teaches that after we mishandle what God has given us, God may still speak to us and offer another chance—but that second chance carries responsibility, effort, and preparation. Like Moses, we must “chisel out” what we broke and show up differently so we can leave differently.

An Obligated Community

Bishop Terry L. Hill, Jr. · Aug 30, 2026

Teaching from Mark 2:1–12: four friends refuse to let their paralyzed friend miss the opportunity to get to Jesus. An obligated community takes responsibility to carry others, pushes through obstacles, and is willing to take radical steps to put a need in front of Jesus. Jesus first heals what can’t be seen (forgiveness, guilt, shame), then also heals what can be seen to prove his authority, moving people from onlookers to joint praisers.
