It is our practice as a church to engage in 40 days of consecration annually.

We do this for a number of reasons. It is always near the beginning of the year so as to be a type of first fruit offering to God. Secondly, it generally will coincide with the Lenten season as we prepare to celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of our Savior at Easter.  Thirdly, any type of consecration and fast puts things in proper perspective. It is a physical way of saying,

“Food and the things of this life are not as important to me now as seeking God”. Of course, denying yourself to focus on God and His program shows humility. That is why fasting is also the equivalent of the phrase “to humble oneself before the Lord” (Psalm 35:13; 1 Kings 21:29; Ezra 8:21).

When a person is really concerned about the things of God, he will humble himself. There will be times when he will abstain from the enjoyment of food or other pleasures to continue concentration and focus on that which is important to God.This year our focus is connections. We are pursuing God in 4 areas:

  1. Partnerships
  2. Planning
  3. Purpose
  4. Prayer

As we submit to each area to God, we are trusting him to give us the direction that's needed to honor the space He had placed us in.
